Manchester-based Writer & Director Chris Green’s career in film and television began in 2000 as runner-up in the prestigious Northern Soul new writer’s competition run by RED Productions & CH4. His competition entry Blaggers was later shown as part of CH4’s Dogma TV strand. He went on to write episodes of Offenders, again for CH4 and had further commissions from BBC3 and SKY1 before turning his attentions to filmmaking. His first feature film Desperate Measures which he wrote and produced was released in 2011 and was followed by the hard-hitting drama Best Laid Plans which starred Maxine Peake, Stephen Graham and Adewale Akinnouye Agbaje and which was directed by Bafta-winning David Blair.

This was followed by another feature film The Caravan and two short films Tortured and Broken Glass which both won the Shooting People film of the month award. Chris has recently completed his first feature film as Writer/Director, the brutal comedy Strangeways Here We Come which features Michelle Keegan in her first film role along with Bafta winners Lauren Socha and Chanel Cresswell and a whole host of great British acting talent.

Chris joined the writing team at Hollyoaks in 2017, writing 2 episodes of the show before leaving early this year to direct a short film Pretty which won Best Director and Best LGBT film at the Oniros film awards and to focus on his Mod & Paul Weller inspired road movie The Pebble & the Boy which commences shooting in August. He is also in development with The Fallen, a feature film script about the plight of the homeless in Manchester with former Hollyoaks villain and ‘I’m a Celebrity get me out of Here’ runner-up Jamie Lomas.
